My Quest

I started this quest at the beginning of summer, clearly failed at keeping it going, but it's hella expensive to eat out every week. And the foods I was testing are craving foods.

But, I'm still on the hunt for the best nachoes, because I haven't found that yet. I went on a date night with Tiz at Jack Astor's for their nachoes and they were good! Not ready to pin the "best" label on any one yet, but they're a contender for sure.

Best for: Guacamole!! So yummy. A nice kick to it for sure.

Also, I made chili one night, and it was soo good. Tweaked it for the next time I make it though!

Happy Cooking/Eating!

My First Fail

Every one has them. A slight bump in the road. I admit it. I was feeling a little cocky. I hadn't messed up yet, and everything I have made so far has been a success.

Until last night. I was just having an off night, but I really wanted to bake, so I decided to make some cookies. What a disaster. I made a first batch of just chocolate chips, which I had to toss. I'd never had to toss anything before this. It was very disheartening. I was testing out a new spoon in which I had to make perfectly rounded cookies. That totally did not work, as they didn't flatten out. So that meant they didn't cook all the way through. Sigh. I also messed around with my recipe, and so the dough didn't turn out like it normally did. It was too dry, but it was too late to add anything else to it. Teach me to mess with what works. So this was the worst time to have bad things, because I had 5 times the amount! My first batch, tossed. My second, over cooked. My third was ok. Then I over cooked the fourth. My last 3 batches were perfect though. It just took me awhile to get there with them. I was so tired when I finished, I was just like, F*** it, I'm going to bed. Then I smacked my hand off the bathroom door. Great way to finish that night.

Over cooked, and under cooked....

In the ovennn...

The last of the bunches. And the one's that worked.

The great thing about this story is that even though I was disappointed with the way my cookies turned out, everyone at work loved them. They all disappeared!
